After-School Art Classes
Now booking for 2007-2008 school year!

In my nearly 10 years as a professional balloon artist,
one of the questions I hear the most is "How did you learn to do that?", generally followed by "I want to learn to do that!"

Therefore, this year we are offering
Balloon Art Lessons as an after-school art program!

These will be 6-week courses, one hour each week, for ages 8 and up. We will start with the basics and move on to creating animals and even multi-balloon sculptures! The cost of the class includes a professional quality hand balloon pump, a bag of 100 multicolored twisting balloons, and an instruction booklet.

The goal of the class is to help the children become comfortable with creating a wide range of simple sculptures using twisting balloons. In the beginner's class we will teach nine or more different designs. Balloon art is a skill which will benefit the students both as a fascinating, inexpensive, and stress-relieving hobby; and also as a way to give back to the community since it is a skill with which they can volunteer at community and school events, or even entertain at family birthday parties. After each class, the students will be encouraged to give their sculptures away to friends or family members, from the beginning we will focus on using this skill to bring joy to others.

Balloon art is simple to learn, even for young children. (my Dad started teaching me when I was 8, and I was at his side volunteering at church and community events within a few days of my very first lesson!) Yet, for such a simple art form, balloon art provides much satisfaction and builds self-esteem as the students gain confidence in creating something unique and beautiful, learning an uncommon but widely admired skill! When others admire and appreciate the balloon creations, this adds a further self-esteem boost, as the artist enjoys the satisfaction of bringing smiles to the faces of others!

Some people find balloon art so enjoyable as a hobby that they even make it a part time job, the local family entertainment companies are always looking for skilled balloon artists, and this can be a fun way to make extra money on weekends in high school and college.

The last class session will be a "Balloon Jam" party where  students will be encouraged to invite family and friends, they will be presented with certificates of completion, and will demonstrate their new skills by making balloons for the guests!

The tuition is $125 per student, for the entire 6 week class, including the materials as stated above; 1 professional quality hand balloon pump, 1 bag of 100 multicolored twisting balloons, and one instruction booklet. The total must be paid in full (cash or check) at the beginning of the first class. There is a $5 per student discount for payments received at least one week in advance of the class start date.

Minimum class size is 6 students.

We will also be offering more advanced classes after the first round of beginner's classes, students who desire to learn more advanced designs will be able to take a course in balloon hats, multi-balloon sculptures, caricatures and cartoon figures, entertaining with balloons, and more!
