| About the Artist Robin McKerracher knows kids. For one thing, she grew up as the oldest in a family of ten children. Through the years she has enjoyed working with children in many different ways. She started working in children's ministry with her church at age twelve, and since then has been a Sunday School teacher, an Awana Clubs leader, and a private tutor. |
| She has worked in public schools in the U.S. and also in Singapore as a "Character Coach", teaching the children entertaining lessons on vital character qualities and ethics. She also worked in Russian schools for four months teaching English, and volunteered in Russian orphanages. She spent over three years working as a nanny, for two different families; one with seven children, one with four. She has gone on over a dozen mission trips with a non-denominational Christian ministry, including overseas trips to Singapore, Russia, and Belize. Robin got her start as an entertainer at a young age, practicing face painting on her younger siblings, making up games for them, teaching them arts and crafts, and performing in skits and plays. Her father taught her to twist balloon animals at age eight. At age nineteen she started her professional entertainment career with a face painting and balloon art booth at the 1999 Bonner County Fair in northern Idaho, where she has performed every year since. Many fairgoers look forward all summer to having their faces painted by "Daisy the Clown", and say that her amazing artwork is the highlight of the fair. The last several years at the fair, two of her younger sisters have joined her as apprentice clowns. Robin has won awards for her face painting, including fourth place (out of 250 photos from all over the world) in Snazaroo.com's 2002 Summer Free For All contest, (it's on the very bottom of the page, in the right-hand corner) and most recently at the Northwest Festival of Clowns in September of 2006, she facepainted live before the judges and won the gold medal for her skills, speed, and interaction with the children. In October of 2005, Robin moved to the Seattle area and since then has expanded her skills in many areas, including doing magic shows, henna art, and temporary glitter tattoos. She occasionally works through a large entertainment company in the area, and through them has performed at two different Microsoft company picnics, the Seahawks Christmas party, and also events for Sound Transit, the City of Sammamish, Remlinger Farms, Suncadia Resorts, and many others. In her spare time, Robin enjoys being involved with her church, spending time with her friends, writing, reading, and swing dancing. She also runs her own business as a wellness educator and business developer. More Info |
